Health Precautions
When coming to an unknown place it is very essential to take some precautions so as not to fall ill. The best time to come to Delhi is between the months of October to April since the temperature is very pleasant. Another reason is that the pollution levels are bearable around this time and one's chances of suffering from sunstroke or an upset stomach would reduce drastically. So in order to set aside tensions for your health we have compiled a list of dos and don'ts of Health precautions.
Hospitals
Pharmacy shops are known as Chemist's shops here. You need to give them the exact name of your medicine so as not to partake the wrong medicine.
While traveling, carry your medicines, a sunscreen with minimum 30 SPF with UV filter, medicines for an upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhea, fever etc. Also keep some band-aids and safety pins with you.
Do not eat salads kept in open, cut fruits, fountain drinks and ice cubes since they are likely to give you infections.
Avoid eating from roadside stalls because these are extremely unhygienic.
Make sure the food is freshly prepared and hot. This will ensure non-growth of bacteria.
If you fall sick visit a reputed doctor in a good hospital. There are lots of pharmacy shops in every neighborhood.
Yellow fever certificates must be shown by travelers arriving from Africa, Latin, America and Papua New Guinea.
Shots of Typhoid, Polio, Tetanus, Cholera and a gamma globulin injection for hepatitis should be taken immediately before departure.
Always drink filtered or bottled water. Nowadays branded water like Kinley, Aquafina and Bisleri is easily available.
